CHICAGO -- After opening the 2016-17 season on the west coast Friday night, the UIC Flames are back in the Windy City where the home portion of the schedule begins Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. The Flames welcome the UTSA Roadrunners for a nonconference clash between foes from the Horizon League and Conference USA.

UIC will hold a special ceremony at halftime of Wednesday's contest to honor one of the program's all-time greats, the late Chuck Lambert. His jersey, No. 44, will be hoisted to the rafters, never to be worn by a member of the program again. Lambert starred for the program from 1971-75 and he graduated as UIC's all-time leading scorer and rebounder. His scoring record, 1,651 points, stood for 19 years, while he remains the top rebounder today with 1,181 career boards. He is the only player in program history to eclipse 1,000 rebounds, and his single-game scoring record of 43 points against Trinity Christian on Jan. 27, 1974, still stands to this day.

Before the ballgame, the second annual Flames Tip-Off Tailgate will take place in the Pavilion Parking Lot (1A and 1B), located at 1109 W. Harrison St. The event is FREE and open to the public. It will feature food and drinks from Connie's Pizza, Vienna Beef and Mountain Dew, plus there will be a beer garden sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing Company (must be 21+ years old to enter). There will be face painting, tailgate games, s'mores stations, and more. The festivities begin at 4:30 p.m.

Tickets remain on sale, but if you cannot make it to the UIC Pavilion, the game will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet Chicago. Jordan Bernfield will handle play-by-play alongside analyst David Kaplan. The hometown audio feed will also be streamed on UICFlames.com with the Voice of the Flames, Jonathan Hood, and Chris Bleck on the call.

Below are a few other headlines heading into Wednesday's game vs. UTSA:

OPENING TIP

• UIC opens the home portion of its schedule by hosting UTSA on Nov. 16.
• The Flames edged the Roadrunners, 91-70, in the first meeting between the two schools in 2000.
• UIC also won the second matchup in 2003, 73-47, at UTSA.

FRESH FACES

• UIC head coach Steve McClain used three true freshmen in the starting lineup at San Francisco, and one more off the bench.
• Tarkus Ferguson, K.J. Santos and Marcus Ottey started the game, while Godwin Boahen played a team-high 29 minutes off the bench.
• Boahen, Ottey and Santos combined to score 27 points and grab 15 rebounds.
• Santos was the team's top rebounder at USF with eight, while Boahen dished out a game-high seven assists.

DOWNTOWN DAMAGE

• UIC made 11 3-point shots at San Francisco on Nov. 11, including eight in the second half.
• The total marked the highest single-game output in head coach Steve McClain's tenure.
• The Flames are shooting 47.8 percent (11-of-23) from downtown this season, and 57.1 percent (8-of-14) in the second half of games.
• Junior Kyle Guice and freshman Godwin Boahen each drilled three 3-pointers for UIC at San Francisco.
• Guice made 75 percent (3-of-4) of his shots from beyond the arc at USF, while Dikembe Dixson buried 2-of-3, including one that tied the game at 80 with 56 seconds to go.

WINDEX MEN

• The Flames own a rebounding margin of +11.0 this season.
• UIC had 24 defensive rebounds at USF and 20 offensive boards.
• Freshman K.J. Santos led UIC on the glass at San Francisco, corralling eight rebounds.
• Junior Clint Robinson added seven rebounds, including six on the offensive end.
• The smallest player on UIC's roster, 5-foot-11-inch guard Godwin Boahen, hauled in six rebounds against the Dons, including four offensive caroms.
• UIC set program record for rebounds in a single season in 2015-16 with 1,235.

WATCH OUT

• Dikembe Dixson was named to Preseason Julius Erving Award Watch List.
• Honor goes to nation's top small forward.
• Presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
• Dixson is one of 20 players on initial list, and one of six underclassmen.
• Joins Wichita State's Markis McDuffie as only underclassmen from mid-major programs.
