CHICAGO – Freshman
Godwin Boahen posted the first triple-double in UIC's Division I era and
Clint Robinson added a double-double of his own to help the Flames down the Roosevelt Lakers Thursday night, 91-53.
Â

K.J. Santos for a layup with 3:24 remaining in the ballgame. The 5-feet-11-inch point guard also registered a career high with 10 rebounds, including eight in the first half alone.
Â
As a team UIC finished with a team-high 23 assists. In addition to Boahen's 11 helpers,
Kyle Guice and
Tarkus Ferguson added three apiece to lead the charge.
Â
Tai Odiase tallied a game-high 18 points and added seven rebounds and a pair of blocks.

How It Happened
- The Flames were downright on fire in the second half. UIC shot the ball at an 81-percent clip (17-of-21) from the field in the second half with 15 assists on 17 field goals.
- Â On the defensive end, the Flames held the Lakers to 25 percent (7-of-28) over the final 20 minutes, and 26.2 percent (16-of-61) over the entire game.
- For the second time in as many games, UIC could not find an offensive rhythm to start. The Flames were held scoreless for almost two minutes to start the game before Clint Robinson dented the scoreboard with the first basket of the night for either team.
- Later Roosevelt led 8-7 as UIC was mired in a stretch when it missed eight of nine attempts from the floor before freshman Marcus Ottey stepped into a 3-pointer from the top of the key and rattled it home to put the Flames on top, 10-8, with 13:30 to go in the first period.
- The Lakers continued to pester the home team as they built up a 23-20 advantage, matching their largest of the game, with under seven minutes to play in the half.
- UIC awoke from offensive hibernation in a big way as it closed the half on a monstrous 22-4 run over the final 6:42 to take a 15-point lead to the locker room at the break. Tai Odiase started the surge with a basket inside before Tarkus Ferguson gave UIC the lead for good at 24-23 with a steal and one-handed tomahawk jam at the other end.
- The Flames picked up right where they left off on the offensive end as the second half began. UIC sank 10 of its first 12 shots from the floor to open the second half as it pushed the lead up to 29 points with 11:42 remaining in the ballgame and it never looked back.
Â
Beyond The Box Score
- The Flames used their decided height advantage to dominate the glass, 51-29. The 51 were a season high and its margin of +22 was the top mark this season.
- UIC also hammered Roosevelt in the paint, 42-6, in the game and 22-0 in the second half.

- Odiase poured in 14 of his game-high 18 points over a 16-minute span in the first half.
- Boahen registered nine points, eight assists and four rebounds in the second half alone.
- The Flames are averaging 19.3 assists per game over the last four games. Over the first nine contests, UIC averaged 12.6 helpers per game.
- UIC is 5-2 at the Pavilion and undefeated (6-0) when leading at the half this season.
- UIC's seven wins in nonconference play are the most since the 2012-13 squad won 11 times outside of Horizon League play.
