CHICAGO – UIC women's basketball infused a mix of athleticism, height, speed and three-point shooting to the 2016 roster with the addition of six players as announced by head coach
Regina Miller.

Tyra Carlsten-Handberg (Stockholm, Sweden), guard
Kiamsha (KiKi) Bynes (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway HS/Monroe CC), forward
Gabryelle Johnson (Casper, WY/Natrona County HS/Casper College) and guard
Brittany Thomas (St. Louis, MO/Parkway South HS/Iowa Western CC/Eastern Oklahoma CC).
"I'm excited about this recruiting class," said head coach
Regina Miller. "We were able to enhance all positons on the court by adding depth and skill set."
Tylah Lampley, a 5-foot-11 player from Homewood-Flossmoor H.S. guided her team to a 22-3 record and a sectional title her senior year. An athletic wing player, Lampley plays well in transition and has a good mid-range jumper.

Deja Anderson-Fitzell and
Tyra Carlsten-Handberg. Anderson-Fitzell, a 6-foot-2 center from Chicago Hope Academy led her team in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots while Carlsten-Handberg brings an international approach to the game. The 6-foot-4 forward from Sweden is a skilled post player with excellent court vision and three point range.
The Flames also added three players with a winning mentality and college experience.
Gabryelle Johnson was a two-time All-Region IX selection at Casper (WY) College. She led the team to a 29-5 record and the Region IX championship game last season. The 6-foot-1 forward averaged 10.8 points and 7.2 rebounds.
In the back court,
Kiamsha (KiKi) Bynes is a 5-foot-7 point guard that played collegiately at Monroe College. Bynes averaged 9.1 points and 5.3 assists per game last season for a team that posted a 31-2 mark and a fourth place finish in the NJCAA Division II national tournament. She dished out 175 assists (seventh-best in NJCAA D-II) while her 5.3 assists per game ranked 13
th in the nation.
Brittany Thomas, a 5-foot-7 combo guard from Eastern Oklahoma College earned Third Team All-Oklahoma CAC honors. Thomas led team with 76 assists and finished second in scoring with 12.0 points per game. She is an aggressive defender that can play either guard position and has the ability to create her own shot.
"This class addresses the needs of our program and I feel as though we have filled our "Spaces with Aces," said Miller.
With the additions the UIC roster stands at 15.
