Flames Prepare to White Out Norse

First 1,000 UIC students will receive 2017 White Out shirts

CHICAGO -- The Flames return to the UIC Pavilion on Friday, Jan. 27, when they will host the Northern Kentucky Norse at 7 p.m. CT. It will be a White Out inside the building and the first 1,000 UIC students in attendance will receive a 2017 White Out shirt. All fans are encouraged to wear white for the Horizon League contest.

UIC (11-9, 4-3 Horizon League) will be playing its 13th night game of the season when NKU (13-8, 4-4 Horizon League) comes to town. The Flames are 10-2 in games that began after 6 p.m. CT this season. The squad has won seven consecutive contests at night dating back to the triumph at DePaul on Dec. 14. The two losses came in road games at San Francisco (Nov. 11) and Grand Canyon (Dec. 10) by a combined six points. UIC is unbeaten in four Horizon League prime-time tilts in 2017.

In the second season under head coach Steve McClain, the Flames are the least experienced group in the country (our of 351 teams) according to KenPom.com. Through Jan. 24, UIC's roster features an average of 0.72 years of Division I experience. The Flames fall just below Mississippi State, Bradley, Oregon State and St. John's. The Norse rank as the third-youngest team in the League and the No. 299 in the NCAA.

Not only will UIC host its annual White Out game, but all students will be invited to defeat Chief Booker in a 3-point contest at halftime. Before the Flames take on the Norse at 7 p.m., the Pyromaniacs, the proud fire starters at UIC athletic events, will sign up fellow students at their stand located at the top of section 112 inside the UIC Pavilion. One grand prize winner will have the opportunity to compete in a 3-point shootout against UIC Police Chief Kevin Booker at halftime. If the student knocks off the Chief, then he or she will receive tickets to see the Chicago White Sox take on the World Champion Chicago Cubs at historic Wrigley Field on either July 24 or 25. Other raffle prizes for those who register will be announced throughout the game.
