UIC Unveils Men's Basketball Television Schedule

Flames to be showcased on national and local outlets all season long

CHICAGO -- UIC's men's basketball team will be highly visible locally and nationally, both digitally and over-the-air, when the 2017-18 season tips off next month.

On Wednesday, Oct. 11, UIC announced that eight men's basketball contests will be carried locally on NBC Sports Chicago (NBCSCH). Those matchups include the non-conference meetings with Saint Joseph's (Nov. 13), Loyola Chicago (Dec. 2), DePaul (Dec. 9) and Illinois State (Dec. 19), plus Horizon League battles against the conference's preseason favorite Oakland (Jan. 15), conference newcomer IUPUI (Jan. 27), Youngstown State (Feb. 8) and 2017 Horizon League champion Northern Kentucky (Feb. 23). The first five games will air on NBCSCH and the final tilt against NKU will be carried on NBC Sports Chicago+. NBC Sports Chicago was formerly known as Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

The Flames will also appear multiple times on the ESPN family of networks. When UIC travels to Lexington, Ky., to face Kentucky in the Adolph Rupp Classic on Sunday, Nov. 26, that game will be shown on the SEC Network. The second meeting of the season against Oakland on Friday, Feb. 2 will air on ESPNU. The final road game of the regular season, which comes on Friday, Feb. 16 at Green Bay, is an ESPNU Wildcard meaning that either that game or the one between Northern Kentucky and Wright State will be selected to air on ESPNU. It will be announced approximately three weeks in advance. In addition, the semifinals of the Horizon League Championship, Motor City Madness at brand new Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, will be shown on ESPNU with the championship game coming on either ESPN or ESPN2.

All told, at least 10 of UIC's 31 regular season games are scheduled to broadcast on over-the-air networks during the 2017-18 season. That number could increase as several opponents are still finalizing television plans. The Flames will also appear on ESPN3 at least 19 times. ESPN3 will be the home for the Horizon League's live streaming game content. The Horizon League has streamed every conference basketball game for an industry-best 11 consecutive seasons, beginning its streak in 2007 with the groundbreaking Horizon League Network.

UIC opens the 2017-18 regular season on Friday, Nov. 10, when defending MEAC champion and 2017 NCAA Tournament participant North Carolina Central invades the UIC Pavilion at 7 p.m.
