CHICAGO -- Season tickets are on sale now to catch the UIC Flames as they prepare to host a challenging 17-game slate at the UIC Pavilion during the 2017-18 season.
The Flames will begin the regular season by hosting four games in the span of nine days at the corner of Harrison St. and Racine Ave. The regular season begins against a 2017 NCAA Tournament participant, North Carolina Central, on Friday, Nov. 10 and continues with a matchup against perennial Atlantic 10 conference contender, Saint Joseph's, on Monday, Nov. 13. UIC begins the 2017 Adolph Rupp Classic, hosted by Kentucky, with a pair of home games against Delaware State (Nov. 16) and Fort Wayne (Nov. 18).
The Flames will also host four nonconference games in the month of December, beginning on Dec. 6 against the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers. UIC will welcome crosstown rival and BIG EAST conference member DePaul on Dec. 9 before breaking for final exams. Head coach
Steve McClain and his squad will bounce back into action on Dec. 15 against Dartmouth before closing out the nonconference portion of the slate against Trinity Christian on Dec. 23.
Following three road games to open Horizon League play, the Flames will host their first conference clash on Wednesday, Jan. 10 against Green Bay. UIC eliminated the Phoenix in the quarterfinals of the 20107 Horizon League Championship and both teams went on to participate in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI). The three-game homestand continues with visits from Milwaukee (Jan. 12) and Oakland (Jan. 15).
The newest Horizon League member, IUPUI, will make its first trip to the UIC Pavilion since 1999 on Jan. 27.
The final month of the regular season features five more home games for the Flames, beginning on Feb. 8 against Youngstown State and Feb. 10 versus Cleveland State. After a final road teat at Green Bay, UIC will close the campaign with three consecutive home games in seven days against Detroit Mercy (Feb. 19), Northern Kentucky (Feb. 23) and Wright State (Feb. 25).
UIC returns seven members of the 2016-17 squad that advanced to the semifinals of the CBI, including the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year,
Tai Odiase, and the 2016 Horizon League Freshman of the Year
Dikembe Dixson. In addition to that dynamic duo, 2017 Horizon League All-Freshman Team honorees
Dominique Matthews and
Tarkus Ferguson are back, as are
