Flames Post Two Season High Scores in Boise State Quad

Team's Scores on Vault and Bars Are Best of 2018

The Flames placed third in a quad meet Friday night, bouncing back from a slow start to post season highs on the last two rotations on the vault and bars.  Several gymnasts posted individual season highs, but the Flames, who scored 192.375, did not have enough firepower to overcome first place and eighth-ranked Boise State (195.850), nor second place Denver (195.050), who entered the meet ranked seventh.  Seattle Pacific took fourth place with a score of 186.875.

Rotation 1 – Beam
  • Kayla Baddeley led the Flames with a 9.725 on the beam.  It was the third time in as many weeks that she was the team's top performer on the apparatus.
  • The team's total took a hit when Mikailla Northern, who had scored 9.775 and 9.625 in the first two meets, fell and posted an 8.850.
  • UIC's team score of 46.650 was its lowest of the season.
Rotation 2 – Floor
  • Allison Broad increased her score for the second straight week and led the team with a 9.800.  She was the sixth place finisher on the evening.
  • Abby Hasanov matched her season high, set last week, with a 9.700.
  • Ashley Albrecht matched Hasanov's score.  She has registered a 9.700 in each of the first three meets.
Rotation 3 – Vault
  • Baddeley continued to impress on the vault, posting a season high 9.825 and taking fourth place.
  • Northern rebounded from subpar performances by her standards on the first two rotations to post a 9.800, her best score of the season.  She was sixth overall.
  • Albrecht posted a season high 9.675.
  • UIC totaled 48.650, marking the second straight week that they have bettered their previous team performance by 0.2.
Rotation 4 – Bars
  • Toni Alicke surpassed her previous season high by 0.05, and posted a 9.825.  Her team-high score tied her for sixth in the overall field.
  • Serena Baker made her lone apparatus count with a 9.800.
  • Northern stuck her landing as the anchor performer, and her 9.775 pushed the team score to a season high 48.750.
All-Around
  • Albrecht and Northern remained the only two Flames to compete in the all-around this season.
  • Albrecht posted a 38.075, and Northern totaled 37.950.
  • Lower than usual scores on the beam were the primary factor in both gymnasts scoring their season lows in the all-around.
Up Next
  • The Flames will make another trip out west next week.
  • The team will square off with UC Davis and West Virginia in Davis, Cal.
  • It will be the fourth of five straight road meets to start the season.
