UIC Set to Participate in Coaches vs. Cancer Week

Coach McClain and staff will wear suits and sneakers Saturday afternoon

CHICAGO -- In collaboration with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), UIC head coach Steve McClain and his staff will participate in the nationwide Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers initiative on Saturday, Jan. 27, when the Flames welcome the IUPUI Jaguars to the UIC Pavilion at 3 p.m. CT.

McClain and Co. will don Adidas sneakers with their suits on the sideline to raise awareness and help save lives by raising funds and encouraging people to educate themselves about cancer prevention, screening and early detection. IUPUI head coach Jason Gardner and the Jaguars staff has also committed to participating in the initiative on Saturday afternoon.

"No matter who you are, or where you live, everyone has been touched by cancer," said McClain. "As basketball coaches, we are in a visible position to help raise awareness and continue the conversation about what we can do to fight back. My staff and I look forward to participating once again on Saturday to make an impact in any way possible."
