CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (7-13, 0-9 HL) will wrap up its weekend in Wisconsin with a rematch against Milwaukee (15-6, 6-3 HL). Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT inside the Panthers' Klotsche Center.
Starting Five
- Taylor Toney continued her offensive successes against Green Bay, pouring in 13 points for her second-straight double-digit effort. Toney has been in the double-digits in five of her last six games.
- Brittany Byrd matched Toney with 13 points of her own against the Phoenix. It was the 12th time this season that Byrd was the leading point scorer.
- Gabryelle Johnson is eighth in the League in rebounding, and second in offensive rebounds, averaging 3.5 offensive boards per game.
- As a team, the Flames are second in the conference in offensive rebounds, owning a 15.1 per game average. Four players (Johnson, Byrd, Toney, Tylah Lampley) have at least one game with five offensive rebounds, and the Flames have out-offensive rebounded their opponents in 16 of 19 games.
- The Flames are also fourth in the Horizon League in blocked shots, and average 3.6 denials per game. Tylah Lampley leads the team, and is third in the conference with a 1.1 per game average.
Last Time Out
- The Flames took on Horizon League-leading Green Bay Friday (Jan. 26) night at Green Bay's Kress Center. The Flames contended well in the first half, trailing just 31-24 at halftime, but the Phoenix defense proved strong, holding UIC to just 12 points in the second half for a 65-36 Flames loss.
- espite the low point total, the Flames were relatively efficient on the floor, making 37.5 percent of all shots.
- UIC outshot Green Bay beyond the arc, sinking 33.3 percent of its threes (5-for-15) compared to the Phoenix 15 percent (3-for-20).
Panther Points
- Milwaukee snapped a five-game win streak on Friday night (Jan. 26) with a tight 70-68 loss to IUPUI. The Jaguars sank a buzzer beater for the final bucket and last-minute victory against the Panthers. Milwaukee was initially trailing by 10 with just over five minutes left, but they went on to build a 65-64 lead with just over a minute remaining.
- The Panthers had four players score in the double-digits, led by Bailey Farley with 18 points. Jamie Reit (11), Lizzie Odegard (10) and Jenny Lindner (10) joined Farley.
- Milwaukee is third in the Horizon League overall with a 6-3 conference record, just behind Green Bay and IUPUI.
- The Panthers are third in the League in scoring defense, allowing 59.7 points per game, and are fifth in scoring offense, averaging 65.3 points per game.
- Similarly, Milwaukee is third in field goal percentage (42.8 percent) and second in field goal defense percentage (37.4 percent).
