CHICAGO -- UIC will attempt to run both its overall and road winning streaks to four games on Monday, Jan. 29, when the Flames travel north of the border to take on the Milwaukee Panthers at 7 p.m. CT.
The Flames (11-11, 6-3) are off to their best start in Horizon League play since the 2002-03 season. UIC has also constructed its second three-game winning streak of the season with recent wins at Youngstown State, at Cleveland State and against IUPUI at home on Saturday. Overall, the Flames have posted six wins in their last seven games, three of which have come away from the UIC Pavilion.
UIC trailed by five at the break on Saturday, but rallied by shooting 60 percent in the second half to topple IUPUI by nine, 71-62. The Flames forced the Jags into 10 second-half turnovers, while holding them to only seven field goals in the final 20 minutes. UIC recorded a season-high 10 steals as a team, including eight in the second half, while also protecting the paint with nine blocked shots as a squad. It was the second win of the season over IUPUI as the Flames remained undefeated all-time against their newest Horizon League nemesis at 5-0.
Milwaukee (12-12, 5-6) has also been hot of late, winning three in a row at UWM Panther Arena. The surge began with a triumph over first-place Wright State on Jan. 20 and continued with convincing victories over Youngstown State and Cleveland State over the weekend. The Panthers will be playing in their third game in a five-day span when UIC comes to town on Monday night.
