Flames Close Road Swing at Illinois

Tri-Meet with Illini, Missouri Set for Sunday

UIC's women's gymnastics team will conclude an arduous stretch of seven road meets in eight weeks when it travels to Urbana-Champaign for a tri-meet with Illinois and Missouri on Sunday.  The Flames have scored 193.625 points – their second-highest total of the season – in each of their last two meets.

Through the Rotations
  • Mikailla Northern turned in perhaps her best overall performance of the season last week.  She won the all-around and the beam, had two additional second place finishes, and was named MIC Gymnast of the Week.
  • Northern has three first place finishes this season on individual events, in addition to her all-around win.  Serena Baker has three wins on the parallel bars.  She has scored 9.800 or higher on the bars four times.
  • Freshman Kayla Baddeley has the Flames' highest season averages on the vault and beam, and is second to Northern on the floor.
  • Toni Alicke, last week's bars winner, is atop UIC's team standings on that apparatus.
Last Time Out
  • The Flames topped MIC rival Southeast Missouri State by 2.300 points last Sunday.
  • UIC outscored the Redhawks on three of the four rotations, and tied on the floor exercise.
  • The Flames put up four of the top five scores on the bars, and five of the top seven on the vault, to take an early lead.  They made the lead hold up with consistent performances throughout the lineup on the floor and beam.
  • Abby Hasanov and Dani Maciel set or tied their individual season highs on the floor.  The team equaled its highest total of the season on the floor exercise.
Scouting the Opposition
  • Illinois racked up a season high 196.350 points in a win over Michigan State last Saturday.
  • The Illini set or tied seven career high single-event scores.
  • Four different gymnasts lead the squad in season averages on the four apparatuses.
  • Missouri posted season high team scores on the beam and vault on its way to a second place finish in a competitive meet that included LSU, George Washington, and Arkansas.
  • Madeleine Huber is the top Tiger on the vault and bars.  Allison Bower and Aspen Tucker both average over 39 points in the all-around.
  • The Tigers have a busy weekend on tap, with a meet at Kentucky preceding the competition in Champaign.
