(Oct. 17, 2024) – UIC has announced the full slate of tipoff times and robust broadcast (TV/radio) coverage plans for its 2024-25 men's and women's basketball seasons that get underway in the coming weeks.
Â
At press time, nearly all regular-season UIC basketball games will be televised on either ESPN+ or part of the Missouri Valley Conference television package. Each Flames' squad will also make at least one linear television appearance this season, both against Chicagoland rivals — the UIC men will visit Northwestern on Nov. 12 for a 6 p.m. (CT) game that will air live on the Big Ten Network, while the Flames' women will visit DePaul on Dec. 13 for a 7 p.m. (CT) contest that will be shown live on Marquee Sports Network.
Â
In an exciting development for 2024-25, UIC will be expanding its radio coverage of both its men's and women's basketball programs through the Flames Network. Along with continued coverage of nearly all UIC men's basketball games, the Flames Network will, for the first time ever, broadcast all UIC women's basketball home games as well. For those fans who do not have subscriptions to ESPN+, the Flames Network is an outstanding option to support UIC basketball, as it is accessible worldwide and can be heard free of charge through the official UIC athletics website,
UICFlames.com.
Â
The UIC men will open their season Nov. 4 with a 7 p.m. (CT) contest against St. Francis (Ill.) at Credit Union 1 Arena. After a home exhibition contest against Roosevelt at 6 p.m. (CT) Oct. 29, the Flames' women will play host to Big 12 Conference opponent Cincinnati in their season opener at 7 p.m. (CT) Nov. 5, also at Credit Union 1 Arena. Both UIC regular-season openers against St. Francis and Cincinnati will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and the Flames Network.

UIC men's basketball enters a new era this fall under first-year head coach
Rob Ehsan, who brings with him a fresh, exciting new look that features 11 newcomers who make up one of the highest-ranked incoming classes in the Missouri Valley Conference. UIC will also bring back two veteran starters in senior forward and preseason All-MVC selection
Filip Skobalj (Belgrade, Serbia/Don Bosco-Schule Rostock), who averaged a career-high 8.2 ppg. and ranked second in the MVC with a .418 three-point percentage (.467 in conference games, leading all 2024-25 MVC returnees in both categories), and senior guard
Ethan Pickett (Pensacola, Fla./Cherokee/Triton), who added 6.0 ppg. and was second on the team with a .533 field-goal percentage last season.
Â
UIC women's basketball is a team on the rise following two successful seasons under head coach
Ashleen Bracey. Last year, the Flames went 18-16, earning the program's second consecutive postseason tournament berth (fourth in school history) and its first WNIT appearance since 2007. UIC has also posted back-to-back winning seasons under Bracey (19-17 in 2022-23 with a trip to the Women's Basketball Invitational), a feat the Flames hadn't accomplished in a decade (2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons). UIC will have nearly its entire roster back this season, including its starting five and 11 total returnees, led by preseason all-conference graduate student forward
Keimari Rimmer (Chicago, Ill./Proviso East/DePaul), senior wing and last year's leading scorer
Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) and graduate student forward
Jaida McCloud (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods), who is ninth on the program's career scoring list with 1,352 points.
