Flames Indoor Turf Field

Among the premier collegiate indoor training facilities of its kind in the Midwest, the Flames Indoor Turf Field covers 34,000 square feet and is one of the centerpiece facilities for UIC Athletics, located within the Physical Education Building on the UIC campus. The Flames Indoor Turf Field includes a turf baseball diamond and adjacent bullpen areas, with additional spacing for soccer pitches and other multi-sport training sessions. A netting system extends around the perimeter of the playing area.

The Flames Indoor Turf Field is part of an ongoing series of facility improvements by UIC Athletics during the past two decades. The most notable addition to date is Curtis Granderson Stadium, a $10 million state-of-the-art baseball venue that officially opened on April 17, 2014. Named for the UIC Hall of Famer and Major League Baseball outfielder Curtis Granderson, the facility won the Editor’s Choice award from Ballpark Digest and was named “One of the Best New Stadiums for 2014” by Stadium Magazine.
