Men's Tennis Team Drops 5-2 Decision To Bradley

Oct. 21, 2000

University of Illinois at Chicago men's tennis player Nick Bodmer (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) lost three matches to Bradley's Chris May as a freshman. Bodmer was able to exact revenge on Saturday with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over May at Flames Courts.

The Flames, however, fell to the Braves 5-2 in their final action of the fall season. Bodmer was the lone member of the Flames team with experience in dual meets.

"I saw a lot of encouraging things out there today," UIC head coach Chuck Cunningham said. "They battled like warriors. Hopefully they can draw on this experience and bring that into the spring season."

Jon Schmidt (Hanover Park, Ill./Bartlett) Wade Clark (Farmington, Mich./Farmington), Amol Desai (Darien, Ill./Downers Grove South) and Omar Husain (Naperville, Ill./Esperanza (CA) all dropped their singles matches for UIC before freshman Derrick Hung (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) won the first collegiate singles match of his career with a 7-6 (1), 6-1 victory over Jeff Book.

Hung later teamed up with Husain at No. 3 doubles for a 8-4 victory over May and Jamin Klotz.
