Homewood, Ill. - After falling in two of the three doubles contests to open its meeting with Eastern Illinois on Wednesday, the UIC men's tennis team rallied to win five of the six singles matches to claim its second straight victory, 5-2, at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet and Fitness Center.

"We were fortunate to escape with a win today," Head Coach Chuck Cunningham said after the match. "We played O.K., but we can play better. After a slow start we finally realized we could beat these guys and finished strong."

The Flames fell behind early, losing the double point as the Panthers took two of the three matches.

Cunningham's crew got the lead right back, though, as Nick Bodmer, Karl Morgan and Jason Kerr recorded wins in the first three singles contests. Scott Greenwald, playing in his first match this spring, gave UIC the fourth point it needed with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win at the No. 5 singles slot.

For good measure, Angel Ochoa won his second straight match to give the Flames back-to-back 5-2 victory.
