Chicago, Ill. -The UIC men's tennis team's losing streak reached 11 this weekend as they dropped a 6-1 decision to Butler in their MCC opener on Saturday at the Homewood-Flossmoor Tennis and Fitness Center.
Freshman Karl Morgan returned to his winning ways versus conference favorite Butler on Saturday, coming from behind for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 triumph in the No. 2 singles match, the Flames lone tally on the day in a 6-1 loss.
"On Friday we overlooked Chicago State," Cunningham said. "But on Saturday we were just overwhelmed. One bright spot was Morgan's win at No. 2 singles. Its our first singles win against Butler in our last four meetings. It was especially nice, considering the devastating loss he had suffered the night before."
Cunningham's crew, now 4-18 on the year and 0-1 in the MCC, is back in action on Wednesday, April 12, as they travel to DeKalb, Ill., to take on Northern Illinois. The Flames continue on the road on Friday as they take on Youngstown State at 3:00 p.m., before warpping up the week at Robert Morris on Saturday.
