East Lansing, Mich. - The men's gymnastics team placed third in the Michigan State Triangular on Saturday with 195.200 points. Illinois won the meet with 209.300 followed by the host Spartans (208.000).

"We had some individuals that looked very good," men's gymnastics coach CJ Johnson said. "But as a team, we haven't put anything together yet this season."

Senior Anthony Cirullo was the top performer for the Flames as tied with Illinois' J.G. Ketchen on the vault with a season-high score of 9.100. He also placed fourth overall on the floor exercise with a mark of 8.750.

Junior Matthew Soucie also turned in a solid effort as he recorded a season-high and second-place score of 8.650 on the pommel horse. He was also eighth overall on the floor exercise with a score of 8.500.

UIC's top performers in each event include senior Dave Johnson (8.600, still rings), freshman Matt Musielak (8.300, parallel bars), sophomore Mason Vernon and junior Frankie Pretzel (8.250, horizontal bar).

The Flames will return home on Friday, February 2, as they will host the Air Force Academy at 7 P.M. at the Physical Education Building.
