Chicago, Ill. - Volunteering is just another part of being a student-athlete at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

On September 4-5, UIC Athletics, spearheaded by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), sponsored its annual fall blood drive, where 62 potential donors came out to do their part in the drive.

Overall, 48 were able to donate blood, with 30 of the donors being UIC student-athletes, and three more involved with the athletic department.

Although not all of the teams, mainly the fall sports teams, could participate due to their heavy practice schedule, the men's gymnastics team led the charge with 12 donors, while the baseball team had seven donors, followed by the softball squad with a handful of donors.
