Chicago, Ill.- The University of Illinois at Chicago men's and women's swimming and diving teams wrapped their home schedule with mixed emotions, dropping a dual meet to UW-Green Bay while saluting their seniors at the UIC Natatorium on Saturday.

The UIC women, fresh off some nice performances at Illinois State the night before, lost to the Phoenix by a 148-93 count. On the men's side, the Flames fell in close but disappointing fashion, 129-114.

"The women faced two very tough opponents this weekend," said UIC head coach Paul Moniak. "Overall I was very impressed with how they raced. Entering the championship part of the season, we are showing strong racing ability."

"On to the men, today we had a chance to take a step up against a Horizon League opponent and failed," continued Moniak. "We can't afford to make mistakes like this if we want to finish in the top three in the Horizon League. Hopefully this gives us fodder to finish well in the final weeks of the season."

For the women, Kelly Hyatt had another strong outing, winning the 50 free in 25.07 and the 100 free in 53.85. Hyatt edged out teammate Colleen Dougherty, who finished second in the 100 free for only the second time in eight tries, winning the other six times.

The men were led by another strong performance by Blake Booher, who swam to wins in the 50 free with a 21.17 and in the 100 free with a 47.33.

Dan Hare scored a 200 IM win with a 1:57.23, beating his previous career best by .01.

Sophomores Mark Pappalardo and Sarah Economides gave the Flames a clean sweep of the three-meter diving competition.

UIC honored ten of the team's graduating seniors as Christine Hare, Stephanie Murphy, Maria Ortiz, Alicia Perry, Vanessa Segovia, Mike Borge, Chris Kaczor, Brian Kroes, Stefan Staev and Rich Wolny were saluted as part of Senior Day.

UIC returns to action next weekend at the Bill Ritter Invitational in Milwaukee, Wis.
