Norman, Okla.- Ten qualifiers from the UIC men's gymnastics team competed on the grandest of stages in collegiate gymnastics, holding their own against the nation's best at the 2006 National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships at the University of Oklahoma's Lloyd Noble Arena on Thursday.
In the day's first national qualifying session, seniors Andrew Krueger and Nick Stavros led the way with Top 10 finishes on floor exercise and still rings, respectively.
Krueger shared ninth place on floor with a score of 9.075. Also competing on floor exercise for the Flames were Jeffrey Bill (17th/8.750), Tim Morrison (24th/8.450) and Alex Kadar (42nd/7.400).
Stavros placed ninth on still rings with a 9.050. He also finished 18th on pommel horse with a 7.950.
Eric Novick posted an 8.150 on rings.
Kadar led a pack of four UIC gymnasts on vault with an 8.850.
Morrison and Nick Persino led the Flames on high bar with identical 8.850 scores.
In the all-around, Morrison placed 11th with a total tally of 48.625.
