Chicago, Ill.- Even after the conclusion of the 2006 season and with about seven months until the beginning of the 2007 campaign, there is still plenty of exciting news coming from the UIC men's gymnastics program.
INCOMING FRESHMAN OUTSTANDING AT NATIONALS
Three of the newest members of the UIC men's gymnastics team recently showed off some impressive skills against the nation's best at the 2006 Junior Olympic National Gymnastics Championships.
Andrew Stover was stellar, placing 13th overall in the all-around to earn an automatic berth in the USA Championships, where he will compete against 84 of America's best senior and junior prep gymnasts.
Nikolai Korepanov was excellent as well, placing 16th in the all-around and qualifying for the event finals on parallel bars, where he placed sixth in the event.
Ben Sinor performed well, ranking fifth on still rings in the preliminaries.
NEWS AND NOTES ON CURRENT FLAMES
- Junior Tim Morrison (all-around) and senior Andrew Krueger (floor exercise) will be petitioning to qualify for this summer's USA Championships.
- Morrison was recently named president of UIC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
- Mark Seske was named UIC's Male Student-Athlete of the Year and was recently featured in the Chicago Tribune for his work training special-needs students at the Elk Grove Gymnastics School.
