Chicago, Ill.- The UIC men's tennis team opened the 2007 dual match campaign on Friday night against crosstown rival DePaul at the Lakeshore Athletic Club.
The Flames fell to the Blue Demons by a 7-0 count.
Following a closely-contested doubles session that saw DePaul (2-1) escape with the point, UIC (0-1) did its best to keep pace but fell short on the Demons' home courts.
The Flames' newest addition, Bastian Harbo, made an impressive debut in his first collegiate match. The rookie from Norway teamed with Adriano Liccardo at No. 2 doubles before giving Vanja Grgec all he could handle at No. 4 singles before falling in three sets.
Fellow rookies Sebastian Lystad and Sam Sweeney also made their UIC dual match debuts.
UIC returns to the courts on Saturday, January 27th to take on Marquette in Milwaukee, Wis.
