Chicago, Ill- The UIC men's tennis teamed returned to Chicago with a split of its two -match trip through Ohio this weekend, shutting out Youngstown State on Saturday but falling 5-2 to Cleveland State on Sunday.
UIC moved to 8-8 overall and 3-2 in league play to earn the third seed in next weekend's Horizon League Tournament.
On Saturday the Flames captured in easy 7-0 win over the host Penguins at the YSU Tennis Courts.
The win was UIC's fourth in a row and third straight over a league foe.
UIC won the doubles point with two 8-6 wins at the top two doubles positions for the early lead and never looked back with a sweep of the singles slate.
The Flames took four matches in straight sets and received impressive three-set comebacks from Sebastian Lystad and Tim O'Brien.
Sunday was a different story for UIC, as some tough luck in tight matches felled the Flames in their contest at Cleveland State.
Three close doubles contests went the way of the Vikings, and two three-set thrillers involving Lystad and Bastian Harbo slipped through the Flames' grasp.
UIC closes out the regular season versus Chicago State at the UIC Outdoor Courts this Tuesday, April 24th at 1:00 p.m.
