Chicago, Ill. - The UIC men's gymnastics team posted its highest team score of the season and won it's first dual meet of the year over conference rival William & Mary 336.450-327.500 at the UIC Physical Education Building on Saturday night.

Neal Thompson, Nikolai Korepanov, Anthony May, and Andrew Stover were triumphant in their respective events taking first place honors.

Young Neal Thompson continued to shine after another stellar all-around performance. Thompson took home three event titles on the night winning the all-around (82.050), and capped season-high scores on the pommel horse (14.250) and parallel bars (14.800).

Even with newcomer Thompson helping UIC's cause, the tri-captains (Korepanov, May, Stover) proved why they were chosen to lead the team.

Korepanov took home his second consecutive still rings title of the season with an excellent performance that earned him the top spot scoring a 14.950.

May captured his first individual event title of the season with a nice display on the vault tallying a season-best score of 15.600.

Veteran Stover made his first debut of the season after overcoming injures that delayed his return to the Flames lineup. Stover captured his first event crown of the season with a 14.350 on high bar. He also picked up a second place performance on the pommel horse (13.700), floor exercise (14.200), and a third place showing on the still rings (14.250).

Other notables highlighting the evening included season-best scores by Alex Kadar on parallel bars (13.800), Marcus Bennett on floor exercise (13.300), and Ned Kamimura on still rings (13.450).

Overall, UIC maintained solid scoring throughout the night and gave the fans a reason to celebrate at the conclusion of the meet.

The UIC men's gymnastics team will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 16 as they take on Minnesota in Minneapolis at 7 p.m.
