Chicago, Ill. - UIC freshman Neal Thompson (Woodside, Calif./Carlmont) earned Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie Gymnast of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday, March 20.

Thompson tied for first on the parallel bars scoring a season-best 14.900 against No. 6 Illinois on Saturday night. The rookie also placed third on the pommel horse recording a 14.450.

This marks the third time this season that Thompson has earned the honor.

The UIC men's gymnastics team will end their regular season this Saturday (March 22) at the MIT Eastern Invitational in Cambridge, Mass.
