PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The UIC men's gymnastics team's stay in the City of Brotherly Love was highlighted by event wins by Neal Thompson and Keith Lage during Sunday's meet at ECAC rival Temple with SUNY Brockport at McGonigle Hall.
Thompson won parallel bars with a score of 14.600, followed by teammate David Ishida's second-place 14.500 in the event.
Lage posted a winning 14.300 on rings, eclipsing a 14.100 by Ishida and a 14.000 by veteran Nikolai Korepanov.
Other notable individual performances came on vault, where Ned Kamimura (15.650), Nick Persino (15.750) and Andrew Stover (15.800) turned in strong scores in back-to-back-to-back sets.
UIC turned in meet-best team event tallies on pommel (54.600) and rings (56.350).
The Flames posted a team score of 338.200, beating SUNY Brockport's 280.850 but falling short of Temple's 343.750.
The upcoming week will be busy for the Flames. The annual Winter Cup takes place in Las Vegas over the weekend, and UIC will host Iowa at the Physical Education Building at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6.
