WEST POINT, N.Y.- Senior Andrew Stover advanced to Saturday's high bar final competition of the 2010 National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championship, putting himself in the running to become UIC's first gymnastics All-American since 2004.
Stover scored a 14.650 on high bar to tie for seventh overall during Friday night's festivities and advance to Saturday's national event finals.
If Stover finishes in the top six of the high bar finals on Saturday, he will earn All-America honors for the first time in his career and become the first UIC gymnast to gain All-America status since Neil Faustino accomplished the feat on vault six years ago.
Stover finished 12th in the national all-around finals on Friday with an 85.450.
Three other Flames wrapped up their seasons on Friday. Senior Nikolai Korepanov ended his fantastic college career with a 12.750 on high bar, while junior David Mohr scored a 13.600 on pommel horse and freshman David Ishida tallied a 14.150 on parallel bars.
The 2010 National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships conclude at Army's Holleder Center on Saturday at 6 p.m. Eastern.
