Andrew Stover, All-American

April 17, 2010

WEST POINT, N.Y.- UIC senior Andrew Stover completed his magnificent collegiate career as an All-American on Saturday, April 17, finishing third in the high bar finals to earn the prestigious honor at the 2010 National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships at Army's Holleder Center.

Stover scored a 14.475 in the high bar finals to place third. The top eight finishers in each individual event final earned All-America status.

This is the first time that Stover, a three-time NCAA all-around finalist, has earned All-America honors.

The Fullerton, Calif. native is also the first UIC gymnast to earn All-America status since Neil Faustino garnered the designation in the vault finals back in 2004.

Stover is now the sixth UIC gymnast to be named a Division I All-American. He joins Paul Fishbein (1985), Mike Costa (1988), Barry McDonald (1994), Shannon Welker (1996) and Faustino. Every one of UIC's Division I All-American gymnasts have been coached by "CJ" Johnson.

Stover was a finalist for the 2010 Nissen-Emery Award that recognizes the nation's top male collegiate gymnast and earned 2010 ECAC-EIGL Senior Athlete of the Year honors after winning the ECAC-EIGL all-around championship this season.
