INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The UIC men's tennis team defeated Wright State 4-3 at the Horizon League Championships on Saturday morning to advance to their fifth straight championship match.
The Flames took four out of the six singles matches to earn the win over the Raiders.
Newcomers Luis Gonzaga and Nicolas Ospina both notched wins in their first appearances at the conference championships.
Gonzaga defeated Landon Neuman in two straight sets, sitting down Neuman 6-1 in set one and finished the match with a 6-0 win in set two.
Ospina took down Jan Alafriz in two straight sets, winning both sets 7-6 to secure a point for UIC.
Sebastian Lystad and Nate Kirk also took home wins in singles play for the Flames as well as teaming up for an 8-3 doubles victory.
UIC will face defending champion Cleveland State in a rematch of last year's championship match on Sunday April 25. The match is set to begin at 8 a.m.
