HINSDALE, Ill. - The UIC men's tennis team swept Horizon League opponent Youngstown State 7-0 on Saturday on the Hinsdale Racquet Club to win their second straight conference win.
The Flames took the one point advantage heading into singles play after a three-for-three performance in doubles competition.
Sebastian Lystad won his 68th career singles match, defeating Tariq Ismail in three sets. Lystad opened up the match with a 6-2 win in set one, dropped set two 2-6, and then came back to win set three 12-10.
Lystad moves into second place on UIC all-time career singles wins list, and sits just one behind Nick Bodmer for the top spot.
Nate Kirk defeated Rob Emig in two straight sets. Kirk kept Emig off the scoreboard in set one with a 6-0 victory, following it up with a 6-2 win in the second set.
Scott Shepardson won his first singles match of the 2010 season, beating Matt McElroy 6-1, 6-1 in the sixth seeded match.
Luis Gonzaga, Bastian Harbo, and Carmilo Giraldo were all victorious in singles play, as the Flames went six-for-six in singles competition for the third time this season.
UIC will host Horizon League foe Cleveland State on Easter Sunday at the UIC Outdoor Courts. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
