CHICAGO - Freshman Brett Valin (Chicago, Ill./Lakes Community) has been named the ECAC Gymnastics Rookie of the Week (Jan. 14-20), it was announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

Valin earned the honor after his collegiate debut at the Windy City Invitational, which was held Jan. 14 inside the Physical Education Building in Chicago, Ill.

The newcomer posted a 14.1 on vault, 13.5 on parallel bars and a 12.1 on the horizontal bar at the event, which earned him the conference accolade.

Andrew Avelino from Army was named the ECAC Gymnast of the Week.

The Flames return to action Saturday at 5:00 p.m. (CT) against Kentucky inside the Physical Education Building in Chicago, Ill.
