PHILADELPHIA - The UIC men's gymnastics team had three team members place first overall in three-of-the-six events Saturday in a tri-meet with Temple and Springfield in Philadelphia, Pa. The squad as a whole placed second in the three-field team against first-place Temple (337.700) and Springfield with 320.500 points.

Despite the second-place team finish, there were several notable individual finishes as UIC claimed the top-individual finish in three-of-the-six events, while placing second or tying-for-second in the remaining three events.

Among the top individuals, junior Dan Zerbel (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) posted a 15.300 to lead all competitors on the floor exercise, while Lukasz Adamczyk (Deerfield, Ill./Stevenson) earned a 14.700 mark on the pommel horse and Brett Valin () claimed the top spot on the vault as the sophomore recorded a 14.800 score.

Among the Flames second-place finishers, junior David Ishida (Woodbridge, Calif./Lodi) scored a 14.700 on the rings, while sophomore Joseph Hodges (Webster, N.Y./Webster Christian) placed second on the parallel bars (14.500) and the high bars with a 14.100.

The Flames return to action Saturday in a dual meet against Minnesota inside the Physical Education Building in Chicago, Ill., at 5:00 p.m. (CT).
