Men's Gymnastics Anticipate Minnesota Gophers

Feb. 25, 2012

CHICAGO - The UIC men's gymnastics team continues its season Saturday against sixth-ranked Minnesota at 5:00 p.m. (CT) inside the UIC Physical Education Building in Chicago, Ill.

"We're coming off a disappointing loss at Temple last weekend, but I think that it will really serve as a motivator for the rest of the season," head coach Charley Nelson said. "We had individual event wins from Dan Zerbel, Lukasz Adamczyk, and Brett Valin in the meet. We saw the Golden Gophers earlier in the year and, UIC's focus will be getting our work done. We've made some adjustments to some routines and I'm looking forward to having a great meet in front of the home crowd."

The Flames return to action after claiming second place against Temple and Springfield Feb. 18. UIC dropped 325.000 placing in between first-place Temple 337.700 and third-place Springfield 320.500 inside McGongile Hall in Philadelphia, Pa.

Flames claimed three-of-the-six events posting top marks on the pommel horse, vault, and floor exercise. Leading the Flames, junior Dan Zerbel (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) posted a 15.300 in the floor routine, Lukasz Adamczyk (Deerfield, ILL./Stevenson) claimed the pommel horse with a 14.700 and Brett Valin(Chicago, Ill./Ultimate Gymnastics) dominated the vault with a 14.100 score.

The Flames return to action Saturday against the Golden Gophers inside the Physical Education Building at 5:00 (CT) in Chicago, Ill.
