Men's Gymnastics Finishes Behind No. 9 Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. - Joseph Hodges and Brett Valin were able to take third-place finishes on floor and vault, respectively, as the UIC men's gymnastics team dropped a 423.300-397.500 decision to No. 9 Nebraska on Sunday at the Devaney Center.

Hodges' score of 14.000 was a season best and good for third overall on floor, as his score of 14.050 placed him at fourth on pommel horse. He also recorded a season-best all-around score of 80.850.

Valin posted a season-high 14.650 on vault for a third-place finish, as Justin Maxwell led all Flames on rings with 13.700.

Dan Zerbel took UIC's top score on horizontal bar to improve his season best with 14.050 for fifth and Trent Jarrett came in with a 13.250 on parallel bars.

The Flames are on the road again this Saturday for a meet with Minnesota and a repeat contest with Nebraska at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis, Minn., at 7 p.m. (CT).
