Final Results

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - UIC gymnasts Lukasz Adamczyk, Joseph Hodges and Jason Gaides continue competition at the NCAA Championship after producing qualifying scores in the second session Friday at the Recreation Building to advance to the finals.

"It was a very successful day," head coach Charley Nelson said. "Jason (Gaides), a first-time qualifier to the championships in the all-around, and Joseph (Hodges) in the all-around as well, and Lukasz (Adamczyk) had a great pommel horse set, so we are looking forward to another day tomorrow. We will go out there and give it our best and see where everything falls together."

Adamczyk came away with the best finish in any event for the Flames after tying for third amongst competitors in session two on pommel horse with a score of 14.850. Hodges and Gaides were able to advance off of their all-around scores, as Hodges tallied an 80.950 and Gaides collected a 79.950 to take fourth and fifth, respectively.

While not advancing to the next round, Dan Zerbel, Bryan Pusateri, Justin Maxwell, Trent Jarrett and David Ishida also competed for UIC. Zerbel was positioned in three events and scored a 14.450 on floor, 13.700 on parallel bars and 13.800 on horizontal bar.

Competing once on their respective events, Pusateri took a 12.900 on floor, Maxwell came in with 13.900 on rings ahead of Jarrett's score of 13.150 and Ishida placed with a 13.300 on parallel bars.

"I was very proud of everyone today, they all had a very good day," Nelson added. "Dan (Zerbel) just missed it on parallel bars and floor and it is disappointing for a senior, but he can certainly be proud of his career, same for Justin (Maxwell), Bryan (Pusateri) and David (Ishida), who have now completed their college careers. Newcomer Trent (Jarrett) was in his first NCAA Championship weekend and did a great set on rings but it wasn't quite enough."

Competition resumes Saturday with the start of finals at 6 p.m. (CT) at the Recreation Center.
