CHICAGO - The College Gymnastics Association (CGA) recently announced its field of All-America Scholar Athletes and its National Academic Team Champion as five UIC student-athletes garnered first-or second-team recognition.
Lukasz Adamczyk, Jason Gaides and David Ishida were chosen as first-team members, while Dan Zerbel and Travis Burke collected second-team honors. The Flames' squad just missed a top-10 ranking in the team title race, but still came away with an honorable mention distinction.
The CGA selected 88 first-team honorees that needed a GPA of 3.50 or higher to qualify for the laurel. Forty five second-team members were recognized as they totaled a GPA of 3.20 to 3.499. Stanford claimed the team title with a combined GPA of 3.445.
Back in mid-April, Adamczyk and Gaides advanced to the 2013 NCAA Championships in the pommel horse and the all-around competition, respectively.
