Men's Gymnastics Falls To Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The UIC men's gymnastics team faced Air Force in a dual-meet Friday at the Cadet Field House in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Flames fell to the Falcons 423.800-400.500.

"We were up against a very strong opponent in the Air Force Academy and we did not rise to the occasion tonight," stated head coach Charley Nelson. "Luckily we are able to get out here again Sunday and see if we can redeem ourselves."

Brett Valin tied for first on vault with Air Force's Ben Zaiser with a score of 14.550. Valin also scored best for the Flames on parallel bars (13.950), good for sixth place.

Jason Gaides took second on floor with a final score of 14.450. Gaides was UIC's best score on high bar taking third with a score of 13.750, and achieved a fifth place finish on pommel horse with 13.900. Gaides was UIC's all-around competitor achieving a score of 83.450 to take second place.

Trent Jarrett's score of 14.250 on rings was good for a third place finish.

The Flames round out their two-meet weekend with Air Force on Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m. (CT) at the Cadet Field House.
