CHICAGO-Four members of the UIC men's gymnastics team prepare to compete against the nation's top gymnasts at the 2014 NCAA Championship, hosted by the University of Michigan. Competition is slated to run Thursday through Saturday at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The national qualifier will be held Thursday prior to finals competitions, with two sessions set to begin at Noon (CT) and 6 p.m. Each session holds six of the 12 qualifying teams, in addition to all-around and event qualifiers.

Three teams and the top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top three individuals on each event no already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will advance from each pre-qualifying session to the finals session. Final competitions will take place April 11-12.

The Flames will be represented at the NCAAs with four gymnasts, plus an alternate. Lukasz Adamczyk heads to pommel horse, while Brett Valin will compete on both vault and parallel bars. Joseph Hodges will be on horizontal bar. Jason Gaides gets set to compete in all-around competition. Trent Jarrett will travel with the Flames as an alternate on still rings.

UIC enters competition following the ECAC Championships, where the team finished sixth with a score of 399.450. In individual competition, Adamczyk took fourth on pommel horse when he scored 14.350. Valin's score of 14.600 was good for a fourth place finish on vault. Gaides just missed first on rings with his score of 14.800, while tying for fifth on floor exercise (14.200) and taking fifth in all-around competition with a final score of 67.400.
