CHICAGO - The men's tennis team took on cross-town rival DePaul on Saturday. The Flames finished the day falling to the Blue Demons 6-1.
"The doubles came down to some tough no-ad points," said head coach Hans Neufeld. "We competed well but need to keep improving."
At No. 1 doubles, Isaac Lloveras and Louis Theodor fell to David Vieyra and Jan-Williams Fellzer (5-3). At No. 6 singles, Carl Hedstrom defeated Paul John 7-5, 7-5.
"Carl Hedstrom won his second consecutive singles match over DePaul," added Neufeld.
Lloveras fell to Sten Leusink, in singles play, 7-5, 6-2. Theodor fell to Nathan de Veer 6-2, 6-4. Maurizio Feoli played a tough three-set match, ultimately falling to Vieyra (6-7, 7-5, 10-5).
The Flames return to action on Monday (Jan. 19) as they make a quick trip to Kalamazoo to take on Western Michigan. The match is scheduled to start at 1 pm CT inside West Hills Athletic Club.
