CHICAGO - The UIC men's and women's gymnastics teams held their annual Mixed Pairs exhibition meet on Sunday afternoon in the Gymnastics Room of the Physical Education Building. Team three consisting of Mikailla Northern, Amelia Rafferty, Katie Snyder, Keith Kohn and Japheth Grimes took home the top spot amongst the five total teams.
Northern had the top score on vault for the women, alongside Nikki Woodruff, both earning a 9.8 on the apparatus. Woodruff also tallied the top bars score for the women with a 9.7. Emily DeCesare shined on beam earning a 9.7, while Jenna Squillo earned the top mark on floor with a 9.8. Squillo rounded out the afternoon with an all-around score of 38.25 after earning a 9.7 on vault, a 9.55 on beam and a 9.2 on bars.
For the men, Alexander Dumstorf earned the top score on four events including floor (14.4), pommel horse (13.0), vault (14.5) and parallel bars (13.0). Keith Kohn tied Dumstorf for the top spot on pommel horse, while also earning a 13.8 on vault. Ethan Sansone had the best vault for the men with a 13.9, while Trent Jarrett took home the top score on rings with a 13.3. On high bar, Christopher Root earned a 12.8, followed by Sansone with a 12.4.
Both teams will open the regular season on the road as the men take on Illinois and the women travel to Western Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 9.
