CHICAGO - Host Cindy Bravos of Comcast's "Community Connection" recently sat down with UIC men's tennis players Mitch Granger and Max Cederkall, the founders of SPARK, to discuss their Chicago service program and what they are doing to change the local community. SPARK's (Students Performing Acts of Random Kindness) sole mission is to feed the homeless population of Chicago using money donated through friends, family and supporters of the cause.

Granger began SPARK in November of 2014 with a mere eight volunteers and limited funds to purchase food. Since then SPARK has exploded by more than quadrupling their volunteer staff with the help of several viral YouTube videos created by Cederkall.

SPARK has fed over 450 people and clothed over 200. During the week of April 20-24, SPARK will hold an event called "Five Days of SPARK" sponsored by Quiznos-UIC Halsted. SPARK will host a mission each day of the week and the goal is to feed over 100 people during the five-day span.

SPARK is currently accepting donations through GoFundMe.com which has seen a dramatic increase in contributions since Granger's mission has gone public.
