CHICAGO - WGN-TV's Amy Rutledge spent a day with UIC student-athletes as SPARK (Students Performing Acts of Random Kindness) began its "Five Days of SPARK" sponsored by Quiznos-UIC Halsted. WGN-TV aired a three-minute segment on the UIC student-athlete founded service program Wednesday night.

SPARK is hosting a mission each day this week and the goal is to feed over 100 people over the five-day span. SPARK's sole mission is to feed the homeless population of Chicago using money donated through friends, family and supporters of the cause.

UIC men's tennis player Mitch Granger began SPARK in November of 2014 with a mere eight volunteers and limited funds to purchase food. Since then SPARK has exploded by more than quadrupling their volunteer staff with the help of several viral YouTube videos.

SPARK has fed over 520 people and clothed over 200. SPARK is currently accepting donations through GoFundMe.com which has seen a dramatic increase in contributions since Granger's mission has gone public.
