Men's Gymnastics Earns Two ECAC Honors

CHICAGO - UIC gymnast Alexander Dumstorf has been named ECAC Coaches' Choice of the Week, while CJ Patton has earned Specialist of the Week, as it was announced by the conference on Tuesday.

The Flames were faced with a pair of dual meets this past weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo. against Air Force. UIC dropped a 427.500-374.150 decision on Friday before improving its score on Sunday in a 403.400-375.200 loss.

Dumstorf set a new personal-best score on the pommel horse on Sunday with his score of 13.600. In addition, the Goshen, Ky. junior finished the weekend in the top three on both pommel horse and parallel bars (13.600) against the Falcons.

A Palatine, Ill. native, Patton matched his season-best score of 14.000 on pommel horse in Friday's competition. He rounded out the weekend setting a new season-high and personal best on Sunday after posting a final score of 14.050 on the event.

Both Dumstorf and Patton have consistently represented the Flames on each of their respective, competitive events, and have produced counted scores in every meet thus far despite battling injuries throughout the season.

Dumstorf, Patton and the Flames return to competition March 5 against Minnesota at the Sports Pavilion in Minneapolis. Competition begins at 7 p.m. (CT).
