CHICAGO- The UIC men's gymnastics team travels to Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on Michigan, Saturday afternoon (March 26) at Cliff Keen Arena. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. (CT), as the Flames close out regular season competition against the Wolverines.
"We'll be facing another tough Big 10 opponent when we travel to Ann Arbor," said head coach Charley Nelson. "Like the rest of the regular season, we won't be at full strength, but I'm excited to see Chris Root getting a few landings back as he recovers from a sprained ankle."
The Flames first saw the Wolverines at the Windy City Invitational on Jan. 17 where UIC scored competitively against five nationally ranked opponents with a score of 378.450. Michigan finished fifth with a 413.700.
Senior Trent Jarrett led UIC on rings with a 13.350, while Alexander Dumstorf recorded team bests on the floor (14.050) and pommel horse (12.950). Junior Keith Kohn was a team best on vault with a 13.500 and finished with an all-around score of 75.550.
UIC's last competition came on March 13 when the Flames collected 385.350 against Arizona State (401.300) at the UIC Pavilion. Top performances for UIC included Jarrett, who won rings (13.600) and placed second on parallel bars (13.800), and Christopher Root, who finished third on pommels (13.400) and fourth on high bar (13.050).
"We'll be looking to finish the regular season on a high note with a lot of hit sets and stuck landing as we gear up for the ECAC Championship next week," said Nelson.
This is the Flames' final competition before traveling to Williamsburg, Va. to participate in the ECAC Championships (April 2-3).
