CHICAGO- The UIC men's gymnastics team will travel to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete against the Minnesota Gophers and the UMN club team Saturday. Competition is set to begin at 7 p.m. CT in the Sports Pavilion.
The Flames previously met with the Gophers at the Windy City Invitational on Jan. 17 where Minnesota finished in third place with 424.500 to UIC's 378.450.
"It looks like we're going to head into the weekend being held back by injury again," said head coach Charley Nelson. "But I'm really looking forward to seeing how we look when we're on the floor right next to the No. 4 team in the country and a top class judging panel."
UIC most recently squared off against Air Force where juniors Alexander Dumstorf and CJ Patton each posted career high scores on pommel horse. Dumstorf tallied a 13.600 on the event winning this week's ECAC Coaches' Choice Award, while Patton's total of 14.050 earned him ECAC Specialist of the week.
Thus far in the season, Dumstorf holds the season best score on three of his five competitive events; floor (14.950), vault (14.050) and parallel bars (13.900). Patton owns the top score for the Flames on pommel horse with his most recent score of 14.050, while Trent Jarrett possess the season high of 14.150 on rings.
Maintaining the lead for UIC on high bar stands Kohn with his score of 13.200, who is also the lone all-around competitor for the Flames, and owns a season best all-around score of 75.550.
