UIC v Chicago State 
CHICAGO- The UIC men's tennis team (9-8, 1-1HL) shut out Chicago State (2-14) Wednesday afternoon at the R-F Racquet & Fitness Club by a score of 7-0.
"I'm very pleased with today's results," said head coach aHans Neufeld. "We came out with great energy in doubles. Christopher Cole and Mitch Granger looked especially tough in the top spot."
In the No.1 singles spot, Carl Hedstrom defeated Felix Savard, 6-4, 6-1. UIC's Christopher Cole downed Gabriel Niculescu in straight sets 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 2 position. Meanwhile, Mitch Granger won straight sets against Rohan Wattley, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3.
Marcelo Dib was in No. 4 for the Flames and held strong against Christian Gonzalez winning after the third set, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Wrapping up singles for the Flames with a solid victory of 6-2, 6-0, was Max Cederkall at No. 5.
In doubles play, Granger and Cole teamed up in the No. 1 position and ultimately defeated Niculescu and Gonzalez, 6-4; Nate Campanile and Hedstrom followed suit in the No. 2 spot downing their opponents 6-4 as well.
"We did a great job of executing this weeks game plan and really used Monday's practice to our benefit," said Neufeld.
The Flames prepare to face conference opponent Valparaiso Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. CT at the Valpo Tennis Complex.
