Box Score UIC fell to Northwestern, 4-0, in Evanston Sunday night.  Strong singles play propelled the Wildcats to the team win, though the Flames were seeing some success on the singles courts when the match was called.

Doubles Results

• Niko Wasilewicz and Marcelo Dib were shut out, 6-0, in the #1 doubles set.  Their opponents were ranked 50^th in the nation.
• Johan Hedstrom and William Wale dropped a 6-1 set at #2, which clinched the point for Northwestern.
• Kailash Panchapakesan and Marco Nanni trailed in their set at the time of completion.  The Flames had won at least one doubles set in five straight matches.

Singles Results

• Alvaro de la Fuente remained in the lineup at #6 singles.  His was the first match to finish, a 6-0, 6-0 decision in favor of Northwestern.
• At #2, Hedstrom also went down in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
• Nanni fared slightly better on the #4 court, but was unable to stop the Wildcats from clinching the win, 6-3, 6-4.
• Panchapakesan won his first set, 6-3, and was up 4-3 in the #5 flight when play was halted.
• Wasilewicz had his eyes on a tiebreaker at #1, as he held a 6-5 advantage after losing the first set, but ran out of time.
• Dib, playing on the #3 court, also had his match go unfinished.
• "Both Johan and Marco played well but lost," head coach Hans Neufeld said.  "I think doubles let us down, but I'm proud with the way we competed in singles."

• The Flames will return to action Friday afternoon.
• In a match just added to the schedule, UIC will travel just over the Indiana state line to take on Purdue Northwest.
