Flames Look to Stay Hot Against IUPUI

Team Has Won Last Two Horizon League Matches

UIC's men's tennis team will conclude its three match homestand Saturday afternoon against IUPUI.  It will be the first meeting between the teams as Horizon League foes.  Originally scheduled for Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts, the match will take place at XS Tennis Village due to near-freezing temperatures forecasted for Chicago over the weekend.

  • Johan Hedstrom and William Wale are the reigning Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week.
  • The pair won both of their sets in the Flames' 2-0 weekend against Wright State and Northern Kentucky last Friday and Saturday.

  • IUPUI lost to Wright State and beat Northern Kentucky last weekend to move to 1-2 in the Horizon League and 7-12 overall.
  • Ethan Mardanus-Budiono and Bradley Luetschwager are tied for the team lead with 10 singles wins each.  Luetschwager has five wins in two different flights.
  • Luetschwager and Grant Weaver have had the most success of IUPUI's six #1 doubles teams.  Mardanus-Budiono and Jac Newis have five wins at #2 doubles, and David Beasley and Grant Esposito are 4-1 at #3.
  • The Jaguars will play Butler Friday night before heading to Chicago.
