Box Score The Flames closed out a full weekend of competition at the ITA Midwest Regionals with solid showings in the main draw and wins in consolation matches.
Kasper Parlklo and
Johan Hedstrom represented UIC in the main singles draw. Each faced a seeded Big Ten opponent. Four Flames who did not make it out of the qualifying bracket played consolation matches, collectively going 3-1.
Saturday's action brought UIC's run at regionals to a close. Advanced round singles and doubles play will continue until champions are crowned on Monday.
Singles Results
- Kasper Parlklo matched up with the #9 seed, Dominik Stary of Northwestern. The seeding held and Stary was victorious, 6-3, 6-1.
- Johan Hedstrom also faced a seeded opponent in the person of #12 James Trotter from Ohio State. The Buckeye, playing on his home court, won in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
- Consolation matches from the qualifying bracket were held. Anthony Nguyen won his, 0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (15) over Toledo's Filip Zupancic.
- Luiz Dos Santos was also a consolation winner, 6-1, 6-2 over Ivan Radomirovic from Green Bay.
- Pelle Strandberg added to the Flames' victory total with a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (0) takedown of Green Bay's Sam Dobbs.
- Alvaro de la Fuente matched up against Notre Dame's Conor Somers, who took a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win.
