UIC fell in the final match of the regular season, 6-1 at Cleveland State Saturday morning.
The Flames, who finish Horizon League play with a 4-2 record, entered play with a chance of grabbing a share of the conference regular season title. But the Vikings (6-0 HL) remained perfect and clinched the #1 seed in next week's tournament with three straight-sets singles wins after taking a contested doubles point.
"It was a tough battle in doubles," head coach
Hans Neufeld pointed out. "I'm proud of Anthony, who continues to dominate points. Johan and Kailash competed well and lost in tough deciding sets."
